چکیده

The usage of economics in grid systems designs has been very popular recently. System designers have attempted to engineer the grid market mechanism that would lead to an efficient outcome before implementing it and open it to end users. It can be noted that, although the usage of economics in grid computing is rather recent, many different grid market mechanisms have been, to this date, designed. Fewer were actually implemented and, in fact, very few, if any, have been successfully used. The argument developed in this article is that this multitude of systems and their relative lack of success is due to the generally adopted ‘top-down’ approach to economic design in grid computing. Such a centralised manner of developing a market structure for a grid environment, although fits well some economic theories and models, is in fact quite the opposite to the way most markets have been created. Instead of the top-down approach to grid market design, this article prescribes a phenomenological approach. It is argued that grid market environments should be built bottomup instead. In this new paradigm, the role of a grid middleware ceases to be prescriptive, in the sense that it carries a (or a set of) particular predefined market mechanism, and becomes a foundation on which the individual choices and interactions of users build an evolving, self-organised, self-adaptive and allocatively efficient grid market. A multi-agent/peer-topeer-based generic middleware is proposed as an illustration of the new paradigm.

An Improved Resource Discovery Approach Using P2P Model for Condor: A Grid Middleware

Resource Discovery in Grids is critical for efficient resource allocation and management. Heterogeneous nature and dynamic availability of resources make resource discovery a challenging task. As numbers of nodes are increasing from tens to thousands, scalability is essentially desired. Peer-to-Peer (P2P) techniques, on the other hand, provide effective implementation of scalable services and a...

Description of a Lightweight Bartering Grid Architecture

Automated resource exchange and negotiation between participants of a Virtual Organization, or Peers of a Peer-to-Peer Grid, is an important feature of Grid computing because it enables scalable cooperation between entities under separate administrative control. Automated negotiation and accounting of resource consumption have been studied, and market-based resource exchange methods have been p...

A grid middleware for data management exploiting peer-to-peer techniques

In this paper, we describe a service-oriented middleware architecture for Grid environments which enables efficient datamanagement. Our design introduces concepts fromPeer-to-Peer computing in order to provide a scalable and reliable infrastructure for storage, search and retrieval of annotated content. To ensure fast file lookups in the distributed repositories, our system incorporates a multi...

A Scalable Durable Grid Event Service

It is interesting to study the system and software architecture of environments, which integrate the evolving ideas of computational grids, distributed objects, web services, peer-to-peer networks and message oriented middleware. Such peer-to-peer (P2P) Grids should seamlessly integrate users to themselves and to resources, which are also linked to each other. We can abstract such environments ...

Peer-to-Peer Networks Applied to Power Grid

In order to improve and deploy distributed control systems for the power grid a robust ICT infrastructure is required partially based on dependable middleware that exploits redundancy and diversity in communication networks. The dynamic nature of power grid applications makes necessity of using peer-to-peer (P2P) networks in this system. The main requirements of P2P networks for power grid are ...
